Working with Teenagers – Support During a Time of Change

Working with Teenagers – Support During a Time of Change

Adolescence – a time of intense emotions and challenges

Adolescence is a period of intense inner and outer changes. The body, emotions and identity develop simultaneously, which often leads to confusion, tension and strong emotional reactions.

Many teenagers find it difficult to express their experiences and feel misunderstood or alone in the process.

What difficulties do we work on with teenagers?

We work with teenagers who are experiencing:

  • anxiety and heightened tension

  • insecurity and low self-esteem

  • difficulties at school and with learning

  • conflicts with parents and loved ones

  • social difficulties and isolation

These experiences are often connected with pressure, expectations, comparison and the search for one's own identity.

How does psychological work with teenagers proceed?

In the therapeutic process, we create a safe and supportive environment in which the young person can be themselves, without fear of judgement.

The work includes:

  • building trust and a sense of security

  • support in expressing emotions and experiences

  • developing confidence and self-acceptance

  • building healthier communication patterns

  • working on personal boundaries and relationships with parents

The process is tailored to the age, individuality and needs of the teenager.

Support for the teenager and the family

When needed, therapy also includes work with parents — with the aim of better understanding, communication and support within the family environment.

The goal is for the teenager to develop:

  • greater confidence

  • emotional resilience

  • skills for coping with difficult situations

  • better relationships with others
